Supporting the well-being of urban weeds led to the creation of a light-blocking
device by placing an umbrella, adorned with drawings, beside them.
Just as it is unnatural for humans to be exposed to light while sleeping, plants
also benefit from darkness at night.
However, most urban plants receive light continuously— sunlight during the day
and artificial light at night.
During the day, the umbrella can be folded to allow photosynthesis, and at night,
it can be opened to shield the plants from artificial light.
